Vigram

By GoldSparrow in Mac Malware, Trojans

Vigram is a highly dangerous Trojan that sneakers unnoticed into target computers and performs a number of malicious activities in the background. As soon as it is loaded and run, Vigram starts to modify the infected system's entire internal configuration and corrupt the system files and registries. Then, it disables any active firewalls and anti-virus software installed on the machine. This last feature creates a backdoor for other harmful malware threats to enter the system undisturbed.

Vigram also acts as a rogue anti-malware application. It displays bogus security scans and warning messages to prompt the user to pay for the full version of some fake anti-virus program. Furthermore, this Trojan has spyware and adware features - it can record the user’s browsing activities, like pages visited, performed search queries, cookies, etc. Such data is then shared for a profit with third-parties. On top of all the privacy and security issues caused by Vigram, affected users will also notice a drop in the performance of their devices because the malware utilizes huge CPU resources.

Most likely, Vigram infects a system through malicious attachments to spam e-mail messages. Yet, corrupted links on the Internet, cracked programs, or freeware installers could also be sources of this dangerous infection. Manual removal of this threat is tricky as it is nearly impossible to identify all its files and folders, and all the modifications it has done to the system settings. Luckily, there are powerful malware removers that can clear your computer from this Trojan Horse.

There may be a Vigram variation, Trojan.MacOS.Vigram, that infects Mac OS computers. Such a variation may load on a Mac system and perform virtually the same functions as the Windows variant. All computer users should beware of such a threat.
