The Videodrome Search browser extension from Bettersearchtools.com is classified as a clone of the MyMovie Start software by Myappline.com. Both applications behave like WowMovix, MixMovie, and nJoy Movies Search. Moreover, the programs mentioned before correspond to the same site—movix.searchalgo.com and the search portal— Searchalgo.com that is associated with cases of browser hijacking. PC users may be suggested that Videodrome Search offers access to movies, photos of celebrities and trailers for upcoming big screen titles. However, the Videodrome Search browser extension does not provide exclusive access to such content. The Videodrome Search app is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that shares information about your online routine with advertisers with the aim to generate ad revenue for its creators. You might notice that the home site for the Videodrome Search software—bettersearchtools.com does not mention the name 'Videodrome Search,' but it refers to software named 'betterSearchTools' and 'bestGames Now.' The 'bestGames Now' add-on appears to be promoted at chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/bestgames-now/bfgnaahfglcpepcledpejjblnohcohee. The Videodrome Search browser extension appears to have a clone named 'BetterMovies Home' that you might be invited to install after following the instructions at movix.bettersearcgtools.com, which is loaded during the installation of Videodrome Search. Both extensions act as a two-part browser extension. If you add Videodrome Search and BetterMovies Home to your Internet browser you are provided with a revamped new tab page, new default search provider and start page. The Videodrome Search extension can edit your browser settings because it benefits from the following privileges:
- Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.
- Communicate with cooperating sites.
- Change your search settings to: movix.searchalgo.com.
PC users that install the Videodrome Search extension and proceed to add its complementary module BetterMovies Home are redirected to movix.searchalgo.com whenever they start an online session, open a new tab page, or initiate a search on the Web. The movix.searchalgo.com portal acts as a redirect-gateway to search.yahoo.com, and you can't change that in the options panel for Videodrome Search and BetterMovies Home. Your connection to movix.searchalgo.com is not encrypted, and third parties can record your input on the site. As mentioned above, both apps are ad-supported and may use information like your IP address, search keywords, browser history, and download slog to display targeted advertisements on your new tab and start page.
You may be invited to disable extensions like Ghostery and Adblock Plus while using Videodrome Search and BetterMovies Home. Also, you may be shown notifications by movix.searchalgo.com with content from associated ad networks. PC users that are not secure with using the extensions offered at bettersearchtools.com may be interested in running a comprehensive scan with a reputable anti-spyware solution that can remove all objects linked to bettersearchtools.com and searchalgo.com safely.
