UPhotoRun

UPhotoRun is an extension found in Google Chrome that has proven virtually impossible to remove. Less than 1 megabyte in size, UPhotoRun requires permissions to both show Web notifications and get a grip on all the other addons and tools present in your browser.

There’s no clear definition of what UPhotoRun is. However, it appears to sport advertising features you’d typically find on adware programs. On the other hand, legitimate adware does not have a habit of landing onto your PC uninvited. The moment UPhotoRun arrives is the moment you start getting tons of Web advertisements related or not related to your browsing history and preferences. The vast majority of them will be harmless, albeit a bit irrelevant. However, some of them may lead you to potentially dangerous places that may have a corrupted code embedded within.

The latter is always a situation you should beware of. You never know when malware will strike, which is why an extension such as UPhotoRun is bound to keep you on high alert for suspicious-looking banners and pop-ups pretty much all the time.

The issue related to removing the UPhotoRun Chrome extension is subject to active discussion in specialized forums. The most recommended solution so far suggests that you run Microsoft’s Autoruns service as administrator to delete the .dll infector responsible for bringing UPhotoRun onto your Google Chrome browser. If that doesn't work, you may be better off using a reputable anti-malware tool to perform a complete system scan to neutralize all potentially ongoing threats or infections running on your PC, including the UPhotoRun Chrome extension.
