Updatepcmc.xyz is a dubious website that appears to exist to run various online tactics solely. Indeed, infosec researchers have observed the page trying to take advantage of its visitors by showing them variants of the 'Your PC is infected with 5 viruses!' and 'Your Windows 10 is infected with Viruses' schemes. What exactly will be shown by the hoax page could be based on certain factors, such as the user's IP address and geolocation.
In most cases, Updatepcmc.xyz will display various fake alerts and security warnings presented as if coming from a reputable security vendor, usually Norton or McAfee. It should be pointed out that neither company has any connection to the websites exploiting their logos, branding, interface and more. Users also should disregard any results from a supposed threat scan of their systems performed by the dubious page. No website is capable of such functionality, and this is simply another fake claim aimed at scaring the victim into downloading a promoted application or buying a subscription for one. In the first case, the delivered application is likely to be an invasive PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) disguised as a seemingly useful tool, while in the second option, the con artists may be trying to earn monetary gains via illegitimate commission fees.
