Uncensored is an Internet worm. That is, this malware infection has the capacity to spread through the Internet and through a network as well as infect a computer system without relying on outside help (like a Trojan). According to ESG security researchers, Uncensored was created October 9thof 2001. It is easy to find out the exact date of this worm's creation because the criminal that created included this information within the worm's code. Aliases for the Uncensored worm include Desor, Ducky, and Hoaxley. Uncensored is a very basic worm that, if compared to today's standards, is actually quite primitive. However, computer users without reliable anti-malware protection may panic when their computer system displays a pornographic image without authorization. Uncensored is written in Visual Basic and is designed to spread through email, mainly by using the infected computer's email contacts on Outlook. When the worm's executable is opened, it displays a pornographic image. This is linked to the way Uncensored spreads, since an Uncensored infection will usually be the result of opening an email or instant message claiming to contain arousing content, usually spread with the help of a chatbot.
How the Uncensored Internet Worm Attacks Its Victims
Typically, the Uncensored worm will first make a change to the Windows Registry which allows it to run the worm's executable file automatically whenever the infected computer system is started. Then, it will copy itself to the Windows folder. Uncensored will usually be spread through a file named 'uncensored.jpg', making it appear as if it were an image file containing a nude picture. However, the file is actually uncensored.jpg.exe and is an executable file rather than an image file (due to its EXE extension. Uncensored will attempt to send out email such as the following:

The previous email will contain the Uncensored file attachment which will actually display a nude picture, but also make the above modifications to the infected computer system. According to the code within the worm, Uncensored was created by a hacker going by the handle H0axley. It allows anyone to reproduce it and shows the date when it was created by a faux company named Virii International.
