TypicalOperation

TypicalOperation presents itself as a useful application but the truth is somewhat different, as its main purpose is to act as both adware and browser hijacker. Upon being installed on the user's Mac system, TypicalOperation will start to monetize its presence by delivering annoying and intrusive advertisements. The advertisements could take various forms - pop-ups, banners, coupons, surveys, etc, and even start covering the legitimate content that the user is trying to visit. Engaging with the presented advertisements could take users to unsafe places through forced redirects. These could include pages dedicated to running phishing or technical support tactics, domains promoting additional PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs), etc.

At the same time, TypicalOperation will establish control over certain browser settings to promote a sponsored address, usually a dubious or outright fake search engine. In most cases, the homepage, the new tab page, and the default search engine will be affected. The browser hijacker will then prevent the user from changing the settings to their original states.

The biggest concern about having TypicalOperation installed on your Mac is the application's ability to access and then exfiltrate data. It could try to harvest details such as account passwords, credit card information, banking details, and much more if such data has been saved into the affected browser.

It is paramount to remove TypicalOperation as soon as possible, to minimize the chances of any unforeseen consequences and potential security risks. To make sure that your Mac is clean, use a professional anti-malware product and delete all suspicious applications that are detected by it.
