'Two free Southwest Airlines tickets' Facebook Scam

By JubileeX in Phishing

'Two free Southwest Airlines tickets' is a Facebook scam, which is supposedly offering two free tickets to any destination within the United States, only to a few selected people, and, in truth, has nothing to do with Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines aren't running any such advertising company, and Facebook users are simply being tricked into fulfilling online surveys. Users are urged to check if they could be the lucky winners of some free plane tickets. When they try, they are told they are the winners. Then they are taken to some web page, which involves them performing some surveys. Eventually, Facebook users don't get any tickets, but the scammers earn a decent commission from these surveys. The name of Southwest Airlines is simply being used by the scammers to trick unsuspecting Facebook users to take their chances in a so-called lottery.
