Threat Database Rogue Websites 'Twitter Crypto Giveaway' Scam

'Twitter Crypto Giveaway' Scam

The 'Twitter Crypto Giveaway' scam follows the established formula for these types of fake giveaways. The scammers try to present the giveaways as being carried out by Elon Musk and Twitter Inc. naturally, none of the names mentioned by the dubious page have any connection to it. It is more than likely that the scammers were simply trying to attract users searching for information about the potential deal where Elon Musk wanted to buy Twitter.

According to the scam website, the giveaway is intended to accelerate the acceptance of cryptocurrencies through the distribution of 5000 BTC (Bitcoin) and 50, 000 ETH (Ethereum). Users can transfer any amounts between 0.1 and 200 BTC and 1 to 1000 ETH to the provided cryptowallet. In return, the scammers promise to give back twice that amount. The likelihood of getting any money back is practically zero and the fact that the funds were transferred as cryptocurrencies makes any attempts to reverse the transactions nearly impossible to succeed.
