Tunenup

Tuneup is a rogue application that appears to be targeting Mac users, predominantly. Many users may not even realize that the application has been installed on their devices until they see the warning messages about various errors or issues created by Tuneup. After all, the application does advertise itself as a useful tool that can help users optimize and improve the performance of their Macs. However, the problem is that the supposed issues discovered by Tuneup may not even be real. The application will try to lure users into buying its paid version to fix the problems that Tuneup claims to have found.

To spread itself, Tuneup adopts the behavior of a typical PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) by relying on deceptive marketing techniques. Most likely, the application was delivered onto the Mac through 'bundling.' This method involves injecting the installation of the PUP as a preselected choice that is hidden under the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options of another more popular freeware application.

Users are strongly encouraged to disregard any warning or error messages generated by PUPs. You should always be suspicious of applications that hide their installation from the attention of the user.
