Travel Adware

The Travel Adware is an intrusive application that many users may not remember installing on their computers. This is a common characteristic observed in PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs), as they are rarely distributed through normal means. The Travel Adware is a perfect example as infosec researchers found the application being included in ISO files delivered by shady sources. One sign of the presence of the Travel Adware is the appearance of an item called 'Travel tech Copyright © all rights reserved' among the active process listed in the Task Manager.

Adware applications are designed to earn monetary gains for their operators via the delivery of intrusive and unwanted ads specifically. As such, affected users could be frequently interrupted by notifications, pop-ups, redirects to unfamiliar websites, etc. The advertisements are likely to promote dubious or even unsafe destinations. Indeed, adware applications often show advertisements for fake giveaways, technical support or phishing tactics, suspicious online betting/gaming platforms, etc. Users also may see advertisements for seemingly genuine applications that turn out to be PUPs in disguise.

It is important to keep in mind that these applications may possess additional functionalities. It is not uncommon for PUPs to monitor the browsing activities carried out on the system. They also may collect numerous device details or even account credentials, banking details, payment information and more sensitive data extracted from browsers' autofill data.
