To be more specific, applications of this type go after the homepage, new tab page, and the default search engine. This way they can ensure maximum traffic towards the promoted page. Because of the intrusive behavior, these applications, and TopADSBlockSearch included, are classified as browser hijackers. Furthermore, they also are considered as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) due to the underhanded methods employed in their distribution.

Instead, users will be presented with results taken from a legitimate engine such as Yahoo.
