The Toothy browser extension from Frentury.com that you can find on the Chrome Web Store at Chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/toothy/kpohflomnaifbkibmjdappdifjmojgcp is known to be promoted via the 'Add Extension to Leave' Pop-Ups, which often lead to the installation of adware. The same pop-up windows have been used to advertise and distribute software like SaveTogo, Boravid and Ikasutmi to users. The last one has more than a dozen clones on record. Browser extension like Toothy may claim to offer something useful like helping you choose the right toothpaste for your dental hygiene, but all they do is track your online activity and inject targeted advertisements on the pages loaded in your browser. That includes potentially harmful links on otherwise clean search results on Google, Bing, Yahoo, IxQuick and DuckDuckGo.

When users install browser extensions like Toothy from Frentury.com they may grant them the right to read and change all data exchanged with Web pages. Fortunately, only unencrypted data packets can be read by Toothy, and your online banking account should be safe. Extensions like Toothy feature little to no value to the majority of users online and that is why they are promoted through pop-up windows, pages that load in full-screen mode, disturbing audio alerts and interfering with the way your browser handles messages from pages. We have received numerous reports that are identical to complaints associated with the Chrome-38.site domain. It appears that there are developers who are publishing clones of Toothy almost every week. You may want to read our article on the Chrome-38.site pop-ups as it has detailed explanation on how to recognize forced browser extensions. You should note that the ads injected by Toothy might send users to corrupted pages and lead to advanced cyber threats.
