Timetocheck.xyz attempts to lure its visitors with promises of age-restricted content. Unfortunately for those interested in this prospect, there is no such content on the page. After all, the main reason Timetocheck.xyz exists, in the first place, is to perform a browser-based tactic that exploits the legitimate push notification function.

There are countless dubious websites dedicated to the same scheme. They may pretend to be doing a CAPTCHA check or imply that a video is having playback issues. Some could promise users access to files ready to be downloaded, or as is the case with Timetocheck.xyz, they could imply that additional content will become available. What all of these completely fake alerts and messages have in common, is that they will always instruct the user to click the shown 'Allow' button.

Clicking 'Allow' will not result in any of the promises made by these untrustworthy pages. Instead, it will subscribe the user to the particular site's push notification services. In practice, this will mean that the page would now have the necessary permissions to start running an intrusive ad campaign.
