Takeekatthree.xyz is an untrustworthy website designed to deliver questionable content to its visitors. It must be pointed out that rogue websites are often capable of adjusting tactics and fake scenarios they show, based on the visitor's IP address and geolocation. For example, infosec researchers have observed Takeekatthree.xyz running variations of the 'Your PC is infected with 5 viruses!' and 'Your Windows 10 is infected with Viruses!' tactics, but users may see different messages.
Both tactics rely on false security alerts and warnings. In the first scheme, the fabricated messages are displayed across several pop-ups and are presented as if coming from a reputable security vendor. In this case, the fraudsters used the name, logo and brand of McAfee Corp. The second scheme consists of a pop-up window designed to appear similar to a legitimate Windows alert. It will urge users to immediately remove the non-existent malware threats by pressing the displayed button.
In both tactics, the likely goals of the con artists are to scare users into either buying a license for a legitimate program to earn fraudulent commission fees or downloading a dubious promoted application. In any case, users should never take warnings found on random websites seriously.
