Threat Database Adware SoloProcess

SoloProcess

SoloProcess advertises itself as a convenient tool that can improve users' browsing experience. However, in reality, the application turns out to be just another ad-supported program. What this means in practical terms is that SoloProcess will start generating invasive and unwanted advertisements as soon as it is installed on the computer or device. Furthermore, applications of this type are not distributed through the normal channels. Instead, they rely on deceptive tactics, such as bundling or fake software installers to inst themselves unnoticed by the users. That is why they also are classified as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs).

The advertisements delivered by SoloProcess or any other adware cannot be trusted. They may take various forms - pop-ups, banners, surveys, in-text links, and more, and employ social engineering and clickbait techniques to trick users into engaging with them. Afterward, they may lead to shady or outright unsafe places including sites running online frauds, phishing schemes, delivering other PUPs or even malware threats.

PUPs also are notorious for possessing data-harvesting capabilities. While present on the system, they may be tracking the user's browsing activities and logging all clicked URLs, conducted searches or visited websites. Numerous device details (IP address, geolocation, ISP) also could be collected. The PUP's operators can then exploit the received data in a myriad of ways, even selling it to any interested third parties. Users should delete all PUPs from their computers and devices as soon as possible by using a reputable security solution that will guarantee the complete removal of the suspicious items preferably.
