Smartlink.name is a blank Web page full of pop-up advertisements that keep showing up while browsing the Web. You may have landed on this page as a Web redirect from another online banner or advertising.
The moment you open SmartLink.name's URL, it will load a small pop-up urging you to accept its push notifications. However, bear in mind that if you do that, you will not only agree to receive such notifications but also start downloading an audio file, or so it seems. Whether that's a harmless audio file or not is subject to additional research. Yet, the lack of a filename leads us to suggest that the audio file may be malware in disguise.
Apart from that, SmartLink.name also may launch a barrage of intrusive, annoying online advertisements, pop-ups and banners all the way. Combined, they may prove more than sufficient to turn your Web browsing experience into a nightmare. More advertisements higher the risk of landing on a malware-laden site. The latter is a possibility because aggressive adware tools such as SmartLink.name usually have no qualms about touting unsafe Web pages, as long as the crooks behind them are willing to pay for such advertising. Clicking on a corrupted link may or may not result in infection but may certainly earn the go-between a commission because that's how the pay-per-click advertising model works in a tweaked setting.
To return to your everyday Web browsing experience, you may need to remove SmartLink's name from your browsers and never see it again. However, doing so may turn out to be a tough nut to crack because intrusive adware tends to resist any removal attempts with dogged persistence. Some adware types will go as far as modifying your browser settings without letting you know in the meantime. That's why you'd be better of utilizing a robust anti-malware solution to clean your PC from SmartLink.name and any other Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) or threats.
