Shoksips.com is an untrustworthy website created for the sole purpose of running a popular browser-based tactic. Indeed, users landing on the page are likely to be presented with clickbait messages or other social engineering tactics. The goal of the site is to lure visitors into enabling its push notifications under various false pretenses.

For example, a common tactic observed on these hoax pages is to pretend that users must pass a CAPTCHA check. The page will display an image of a robot accompanied by a message similar to 'Press Allow to verify that you are not robot.' When cybersecurity researchers analyzed Shoksips.com, they observed a different scenario. The deceptive site showed a loading bar that was stuck at 99%. Right below it was a message that stated:

'Click the 'Allow' button to subscribe to the push notifications and continue watching'

Naturally, pressing the button doesn't provide access to any video content. Instead, users will now be subjected to questionable advertisements generated by Shoksips.com. The site will exploit the push notifications browser feature to deliver various dubious advertisements to users. The advertisements should not be approached carelessly, as they could be promoting unsafe destinations, such as other unsafe websites, shady adult platforms, online gaming or betting sites and more. Users also could be presented with offers for intrusive PUPs advertised as legitimate and seemingly useful software products. Keep in mind that Shoksips.com itself, as well as the displayed advertisements, could cause forced redirects, again leading to dubious pages.
