Service-2022.site is another rogue webpage that is designed with the sole purpose of taking advantage of its visitors. The site follows the typical pattern observed in other untrustworthy pages of this type. More specifically, infosec researchers confirmed that the page is running a variant of the 'Your PC is infected with 5 viruses!' tactic. However, what users encounter on the page could vary based on their specific IP addresses and geolocation.
This particular scheme consists of several pop-up windows containing completely fake security alerts and warnings. The fraudsters try to convince users that the shown messages are legitimate by pretending as if they are being delivered from a reputable software vendor - McAfee, in this case. Naturally, McAfee has no connection to any of these rogue sites, and its logo, branding, and interface design are exploited by con artists. Furthermore, users could be presented with a supposed threat scan that has found numerous malware threats on their devices. These claims also are entirely fabricated, as no website is capable of such functionality.
Some of the pages similar to Service-2022.site do redirect users to the official websites of the promoted software products. However, even in these cases, the fraudsters are simply trying to abuse the specific product's affiliate program as a way to earn illegitimate commissions based on the transactions completed via the con page.
