Secureyourdatabase.live may sound like a useful website providing its visitors with important tips on how to protect their information, but, in reality, the exact opposite is true. The page has been observed to run online tactics trying to take advantage of unsuspecting users. It is important to remember that many rogue websites are capable of scanning the incoming IP addresses as a way to discern the visitor's geolocation. They may then use the information to adjust the dubious content shown.

When infosec researchers examined Secureyourdatabase.live, they saw the site displaying a variation of the 'Your PC might be infected with viruses!' scheme. As part of its deceptive messages, the site may display several pop-ups presented as security alerts or warnings coming from the Norton Security. Norton is a legitimate computer security company, but it is in no way connected to a rogue website such as Secureyourdatabase.live. Its name, logo, and branding are simply being exploited, as a way to make the fake messages appear real.

The site may use another manipulative tactic by showing its visitors the results of a supposed threat scan that it claims to have conducted. Users could see that their devices have multiple, critical issues, as well as several damaging malware threats lurking on them. All of these claims also are entirely fabricated - after all, no website is capable of performing any scan type on its own.

The goal of the fraudsters running such dubious sites is typically to scare users into purchasing a subscription for a legitimate security tool, while they earn commission fees through affiliate programs. However, Secureyourdatabase.live could easily be switched to start pushing an intrusive PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) under the guise of an anti-malware tool. PUPs are notorious for having adware, browser hijacker, and even data-collection capabilities.
