The Search Shield (a.k.a. Search Assist) software is developed by ClientConnect Ltd. and is recommended to users as a search enhancer that may be compatible with Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. The Search Shield software is a re-branded version of the Search Protect browser add-on and is not likely to improve the reputation of ClientConnect Ltd. that is known to build riskware like Look4Like and Falco Software Toolbar. The Search Shield software may claim to provide optimal search capabilities to its customers and allow users to sort through results more efficiently. The Search Shield (a.k.a. Search Assist) application is associated with several domains and upon installation, it may change your homepage, new tab page, and search provider preferences to any of the following portals:
http://search.assist.ly
http://search.eshield.com
https://searchshield.co/
http://www.search-shield.com/
The Search Shield application is marked as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that is likely to make changes to your Internet experience, which you might not like. Additionally, the Search Shield software may gather usage statistics like your bookmarks collection, Internet history, IP address, and software configuration to allow advertisers to show personalized ads whenever you visit any of the domains mentioned above. You should note that the search filter provided by Search Shield (a.k.a. Search Assist) is not as useful as the one found on engines like Yahoo, Bing and Google. For example, you cannot search by using images, sort videos by length or text results by date. Many users may regret installing the Search Shield software and long for the comfort of Google. The Search Shield program may be listed as a browser plug-in in the 'Control Panel' and you should use a reliable anti-spyware app to uninstall Search Shield completely.
