Searcherbar

SearcherBar is a browser hijacker program. Browser hijacker programs also are classified as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) due to the unorthodox techniques involved in their dissemination. Users with this program on their computers will soon perceive that their Web browsers are opening an unknown, new address.

In reality, that is the main functionality of the majority of browser hijackers. These annoying applications are created to take control of the user's browser and force it to visit sponsored addresses specifically. In the case of SearcherBar, the application promotes various websites. These websites will be set as the browser's new tab page, homepage, and default search engine, and the handlers of SearcherBar will receive monetary compensation for promoting such websites.

It is clear that PC users shouldn't use these promoted websites for their search queries; providing accurate search results is not their goal. The engines are considered fake since they cannot produce results independently.

PUPs and browser hijackers also have the features necessary to collect information from the device they are installed on. They also may monitor the user's browsing activities, collect device details, or even attempt to access the autofill data saved in the affected browsers.
