The Searchandshopping.org address belongs to a dubious search engine. Users are unlikely to rely on such engines for their Web searches willingly. Instead, in the vast majority of cases, they see these unfamiliar addresses injected into their Web browser's settings forcefully by an intrusive browser hijacker application. These PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) employ various deceptive distribution techniques to install themselves on the users' computers or devices stealthily.
Typically, the promoted address will be set as the new homepage, new tab page and default search engine. The PUP may even try to prevent users from reverting the affected settings to their original state.
The vast majority of search engines promoted through such underhanded means are classified as fake - they cannot produce any results on their own. However, Searchandshopping.org is different. It can generate results but the produced links are more than likely going to be of low quality and may include numerous sponsored advertisements.
Users also should be warned that PUPs are infamous for having data-tracking capabilities. The intrusive application could be collecting various data in the background silently and transmitting it to its operators.
