Sdjm Ransomware

The Sdjm Ransomware is a variant from the STOP/Djvu malware family. Although it is functionally quite identical to the rest of the variants from the STOP/Djvu family, the threat remains to possess a significant capacity to cause damage to the infected systems. Indeed, if Sdjm is capable of infiltrating the targeted computers, it will initiate an encryption routine that will render almost all files stored on the device completely inaccessible and unusable.

By utilizing a military-grade cryptographic algorithm, the hackers ensure that the locked files cannot be restored without their assistance. As part of the encryption process, the threat will append '.sdjm' to the original names of the affected files. Victims will be left with a ransom note containing instructions from the attackers. The message will be delivered to the breached system as a text file named '_readme.txt.'

Ransom Note's Details

The note reveals that the sum the hackers want to receive is $980. In exchange, they promise to send back a decryptor tool and the required decryption key. Of course, there are no guarantees that the cybercriminals will actually keep their end of the deal. Still, the note promises that if users initiate contact within the first 72 hours, they would need to pay just half of the initial amount. According to the message, two email addresses may be used for this purpose. The primary email is 'support@sysmail.ch' while 'helprestoremanager@airmail.cc' acts as a backup.
