Scarab-Skype Ransomware
The Scarab-Skype Ransomware is a variant of the Scarab Ransomware, also known as the Amnesia Ransomware. The Scarab-Skype Ransomware acts by encrypting a range of files that the users utilize often enough and thus blocking access to them for all who use the infected machine. The Scarab-Skype Ransomware changes the extensions of the affected files to .skype, making it impossible to open them without decrypting them. The Scarab-Skype Ransomware uses an AES encryption algorithm to lock access to the files. The Scarab-Skype Ransomware is written in Delphi.
Once the Scarab-Skype Ransomware is done with the encryption of the files it targets, a ransom note is dropped on the victims' desktops to let the users know about what transpired – 'HOW TO RECOVER ENCRYPTED FILES.txt.' The contact email is lalalendkiss[at]gmail[dot]com. However, the users are advised to avoid contacting the people behind this threat, as there is no guarantee that paying the Bitcoin ransom will allow them to get their files back.
