SAproduct

SAproduct is a deceptive program that uses social-engineering tactics to scare users into paying for a subscription or buying its paid versions. The application presents itself as a security solution that can protect users' computers, while also boosting their performances. However, in reality, the application displays misleading scan results showing numerous detected unsafe items and urges users to pay up to remove the non-existent threats. The application is an almost identical copy of another PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) known as Segurazo.

How did SAproduct Invade Your Device?

Users are extremely unlikely to download and install PUPs such as SAproduct willingly. The application is instead being distributed via underhanded methods designed to hide its installation specifically. These tactics may include what is known as bundling - SAproduct will be wrapped alongside a legitimate program, and users may not even notice that an intruder application is being deployed to their computers.

What are PUPs?

PUPs are often confused for serious malware threats due to their deceptive nature, However, strictly speaking, they are not. PUPs may perform numerous intrusive actions, but they do not pose a direct threat to the computers. That doesn't mean that you should keep these applications! It is still recommended to remove them as soon as possible with a professional security solution because PUPs can display untrustworthy and intrusive advertisements, cause unwanted browser redirects to shady websites or create other potential risks.
