Safetyremind.xyz is a deceptive website that uses manipulative techniques and fake scare tactics to take advantage of its visitors. The site pretends to scan the user's computer or device for threats, even though such functionality is beyond the scope of any website. The con artists also show a security alert claiming that the user's system is vulnerable to malware and other threats. The entire page is designed to appear as if its messages are coming from the legitimate McAfee company.
Through its deceptive methods, Safetyremind.xyz tries to convince users to buy a subscription for the McAfee Total Protection application. The likely goal of the fraudsters is to collect illegitimate commission fees via dubious affiliate programs. Users should remember that McAfee is not connected to any of the hoax pages using its name, branding and logo.
In addition, Safetyremind.xyz also may ask users to subscribe to its push notifications. This is a common behavior observed in con websites. Enabling the page's notifications could subject the user to an influx of unwanted and potentially risky advertisements. Indeed, the questionable website could show advertisements promoting additional tactics, fake giveaways, phishing portals, shady online gaming and betting platforms and more.
