Safecare

By Domesticus in Rogue Anti-Spyware Program

Safecare is a fake antispyware application that is known to render fabricated alert messages and system scan results in an effort to scare computer users into purchasing a full version of Safecare. Safecare has an interesting interface that is made up mostly of the Korean language. However, Safecare may easily be confused with reputable security products that are designed to remove malware from a PC.

Safecare may be installed through a Trojan horse download without the permission of the computer user. In such a case, Safecare may load at startup of Windows and attempt to scan the computer returning several bogus results. These results are used as a scare tactic to further persuade the purchase of Safecare. Purchasing Safecare will do nothing extra in terms of detecting and removing malware. It is best to rid a system of Safecare with a trusted spyware removal application.
