Qqqe Ransomware

The Qqqe Ransomware is another variant spawned from a ransomware family rather popular among cybercriminal circles, known as STOP/Djvu. The threat operates following the typical STOP/Djvu conventions, without introducing any significant improvements. Of course, even as a simple variant, its capacity to cause damage should not be underestimated.

The Qqqe Ransomware utilizes a military-grade encryption algorithm to lock the data of its victims effectively. Nearly all documents, databases, archives, images, photos, audio and video files on the breached devices will be rendered unusable. To the original name of each encrypted file, the threat will append '.qqqe' as a new extension. Victims will be provided with a ransom note delivered as a text file named '_readme.txt.'

The hackers responsible for spreading the Qqqe Ransomware expect to be paid a hefty ransom of $980 if they are to assist their victims with recovering the encrypted data. However, the ransom note of the threat also mentions that affected users can drop the price down by 50% to $490. The only listed requirement is to establish contact with the attackers during the first 72 hours following the Qqqe infection. To message the hackers, victims can use the two email addresses found in the ransom note - 'support@sysmail.ch' and 'helprestoremanager@airmail.cc.'
