Qqkk Ransomware

The Qqkk Ransomware has been confirmed to be another variant of the infamous STOP/Djvu ransomware family. Even though the threat fails to exhibit any significant improvements over the other malicious members of this family, it is threatening enough to cause significant damage to the infected systems. Indeed, if deployed successfully, the Qqkk Ransomware will target the victim's documents, PDFs, archives, databases, and other file types and encrypt them with a strong cryptographic algorithm. Afterward, affected individual users or corporate entities will no longer be able to open or access the impacted files.

Following the established STOP/Djvu behavior, the Qqkk Ransomware also marks the files it encrypts. In this case, each locked file will have '.qqkk' added to its original name as a new extension. When it has processed all target file types, the threat will drop a ransom note on the breached device. The message will be delivered in the form of a text file named '_readme.txt.'

Victims of the threat are told that they must pay a ransom of $980 to the cybercriminals. Only after transferring the money will they receive a decryptor tool and the necessary decryption key that could unlock their files. The usual STOP/Djvu offer to lower the size of the ransom by 50% for anyone who contacts the attackers within the first 72 hours also is present here. Two email addresses are provided as a way to reach the attackers - 'support@bestyourmail.ch' and 'datarestorehelp@airmail.cc.'
