Pushbus.com is not a site that users would visit out of their own volition. The page doesn't offer anything in terms of useful content or features. In fact, the exact opposite is true, as the main purpose of the page is to perform a popular browser-based tactic. By employing several social-engineering and clickbait tactics, Pushbus.com tries to lure visitors into enabling its push notifications. This is an online scheme that has been perpetrated by countless different dubious pages that all act in a practically identical manner.
Upon landing on the page, users will be presented with one of several fake scenarios adopted by the con site. For example, Pushbus.com has been observed to display an image of a confused robot alongside a message similar to:
'Click Allow if you are not a robot'
The implication is clear - the site tries to imitate a legitimate CAPTCHA check. However, when users click the button, they will unknowingly subscribe themselves to the page's push notification services. Afterward, Pushbus.com will be able to start running an intrusive ad camping. The influx of unwanted advertisements could impact the browsing experience on the device severely.
More importantly, the advertisements should not be approached carelessly. By interacting with them, users risk being taken to more hoax websites, fake giveaways, shady adult-oriented platforms, etc. It is not uncommon for the advertisements generated by such dubious sources also to contain offers for PUPs, adware, and browser hijackers masquerading as legitimate applications.
