EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards are updated regularly based on our research data and metrics and are useful for a wide range of computer users, from end users seeking solutions to remove malware from their systems to security experts analyzing threats.
EnigmaSoft Threat Scorecards display a variety of useful information, including:

Protectpc.xyz is a dubious website that only pretends to offer useful content or services to its visitors. The true purpose of the page is to perform a browser-based scam that exploits the legitimate push notifications feature. All websites of this type follow the same general behavior - visitors will be lured into clicking the displayed 'Allow' button under various false pretenses.
The commonly encountered scenario sees the deceptive website pretend to be doing a CAPTCHA check. Other variations include showing a buffering bar or a video window with the implication that users can only proceed to the supposed content after clicking 'Allow.' Protectpc.xyz also has been observed to claim that pressing the button will initiate the download of an unspecified file. Users could be presented with a message similar to 'Click 'Allow' to start downloading.'
If the hoax page is successful in its ruse, it will then be able to run an intrusive advertising campaign. The increased number of advertisements seen while browsing could drastically diminish the user experience on the device. More importantly, the advertisements should not be trusted or approached carelessly. By interacting with the advertisements users risk being taken to more deceptive and questionable destinations. It is not uncommon for advertisements associated with this type of con website to redirect to phishing schemes or fake giveaways. The advertisements also could show enticing offers for seemingly useful software products. However, once installed, these applications turn out to be annoying PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) equipped with browser-hijacker, adware or even data-collection functions.
