Protectlab.xyz is a website created to run a version of the 'Your PC is Infected with 5 Viruses' tactic. The site doesn't provide any content or meaningful features to its visitors. In fact, the vast majority of users would not land on the page intentionally. Instead, they would be taken there as a result of unwanted and forced redirects.
Once it is opened, Protectlab.xyz will generate several fake warning messages and pop-ups. In an attempt to add legitimacy to its claims, the site will imitate the design of the actual McAfee anti-malware product. It also pretends to be doing a scan of the user's device for malware threats. No website can perform such action on its own, but that will not stop Protectlab.xyz from claiming to have found 5 harmful virus threats.
Users should keep in mind that none of the alerts associated with this page are real. The fraudsters' only goal is to scare visitors into buying a subscription for the promoted application, while earning illegitimate commission fees for each completed transaction.
