ProRadioSearch

ProRadioSearch presents itself as a useful application but, in reality, it is just another browser hijacker. Browser hijackers are dubious applications designed to take control over users' Web browser and modify their settings. The goal is to set the homepage, new tab page, and the default search engine to open a promoted address.

As a result of the browser hijacker's activities, no matter what users do - open the affected browser, start a new tab, or initiate a search in the URL bar, they will be taken to the promoted address, thus generating artificial traffic for it. Typically, this application type is used to promote fake search engines, and ProRadioSearch is not an exception.

Users will notice that their browser now opens the unfamiliar proradiosearch.com. As could be expected by an engine that has to resort to such underhanded promotional methods, it lacks the ability to produce any results at all and is therefore considered as fake. The search queries it hijacks will either be redirected to the legitimate search.yahoo.com or a dubious engine at searchlee.com. Dubious engines can provide results but usually, they are of low quality and contain multiple third-party ad links.

If you cannot recall ever installing the ProRadioSearch on your computer, you are not the only one most definitely. Browser hijackers spread themselves through deceptive distribution methods such as bundling. This nefarious behavior classifies them as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs). PUPs are often equipped with data-collecting functionality and while present on the device they might be spying on the user's browsing activities. To prevent third parties from accessing your browsing history, search history, IP address, geolocation, and more, consider removing any possible PUP as soon as possible.
