PrinterCyberSpace

PrinterCyberSpace is a potentially harmful application with both adware and browser hijacker capabilities. It also is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) due to the deceptive means of distribution that it uses. Namely, PUPs typically spread through a technique called “bundling”- they get packed together with some app that users are more likely to download and install deliberately on their computers.

In general, adware programs like PrinterCyberSpace display undesired advertisements, banners, fake discount coupons and other intrusive content. All of these pop-ups lead to a decreasing user experience while surfing the Internet. Moreover, the advertisements generated by PUPs may endorse potentially unsafe tactics and deceiving websites. When users are not cautious and click on any of these banners or links, they may even stealthily download and install malware on their computers.

In its function as a browser hijacker, PrinterCyberSpace is expected to redirect users to fake search engines by substituting the user's default browser homepage and search engine with the promoted unreliable search machine. Fraudulent search engines typically redirect to Yahoo, Google, or Bing, as they cannot generate their own search results. Many browser hijackers also have methods to prevent browser recovery and ensure their persistence on the device.

PrinterCyberSpace also likely has data tracking abilities, whereby collected information, like browsing data, search histories, personally identifiable details, finance-related data, and so on, is then monetized by selling it to third parties. Therefore, PUPs like PrinterCyberSpace should be removed as soon as possible, as they can lead to severe financial losses, privacy issues and even identity theft.
