Power-stability.com is an untrustworthy website running online tactics. The exact deceptive content that will be presented to visitors could vary, as many rogue websites of this type modify their behavior based on the incoming IP addresses and users' geolocation. It also must be pointed out that sites like Power-stability.com are very rarely opened intentionally. In many cases, users are taken there via forced redirects caused by rogue advertising networks or intrusive PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs).
When infosec researchers analyzed the Power-stability.com page, they found it running a version of 'You've visited illegal infected website.' This scheme consists of several pop-up windows and the main page. Users will be shown numerous, fake security alerts and warnings. The site may even pretend to have scanned the user's device for threats and has managed to identify several, serious malware present on it. However, these statements are completely fake, as no website can perform such scans on its own.
Furthermore, the messages delivered by Power-stability.com could be disguised as coming from a reputable source - the computer security company McAfee, in this case. This is another trick to make the fake alerts appear more legitimate, as the actual McAfee company has no connection to such rogue websites.
The various fake scares will typically try to convince users that they must immediately buy a subscription for a promoted security application. In some cases, the application could be legitimate, with the fraudsters hoping to earn commission fees based on each completed transaction.
