playOnline Search

The playOnline Search Extension from Bettersearchtools.com was added to a long list of clones associated with Eanswers.com on June 19th, 2018. The playOnline Search Extension joins an expanding family of browser extensions that are used by Eanswers.com to provide Web surfers with targeted promotional materials, news feeds and search results at Yahoo. The playOnline Search Extension features the same description we have seen with the GoPlay Search Extension by Bettersearchtools.com, the netGaming Search Extension by Medianetnow.com, the gamesFinder Search Extension by Myappzcenter.com and the iPlay Search by Bettersearchtools.com in the past. Also, the playOnline Search Extension may show notifications from Eansowers.com, and the application is observed to cause browser redirects to Yahoo from games.eanswers.com.

The playOnline Search Extension requires the following rights in Google Chrome:

  • Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.
  • Display notifications.
  • Change your search settings to games.eanswers.com.

The playOnline Search Extension is configured to change the default search provider in Chromium-based Internet clients like Vivaldi, SRWare Iron, Google Chrome, and Yandex to Games.eanswers.com. The Games.eanswers.com portal is identical to many clones of Eanswers.com like Mps.eanswers.com, Movix.eanswers.com and Music.eanswers.com. PC users may be suggested that Games.eanswers.com supports a "private search," but that is not true. Using the 'Private Search' option at Games.eanswers.com leads users to hxxp://www1.myprivatesearch[.c]om/search?q=[search terms] that has no valid digital certificate and lacks encryption. Installing the playOnline Search Extension is manifested through a new icon in the navigation bar that loads a small pop-up menu with links to Cantstopplaying[.]com. Typing in the Omnibox loads search results suggestions by Yahoo under the brand 'playOnline Search Search.' Also, the playOnline Search Extension may generate new tabs by hxxps://www.livesports[.]today and hxxp://www.cantstopplaying[.]com/embed/game/[game ID]. The application from Bettersearchtools.com is known to drop tracking cookies from partnering advertisers and allow marketers to receive information like your Internet history, the advertisements you have clicked, and how much time you spent online. playOnline Search is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) by Bettersearchtools.com that you may want to remove with assistance from a credible anti-spyware suite.
