The iPlay Search browser extension by bettersearchtools.com is promoted as a tool that can be incorporated into Google Chrome and allow Web surfers to play games for free at better.cantstopplaying.com. When the iPlay Search browser extension is installed, you will notice a small icon of a gamepad show up in the navigation panel on the top left corner next to the browser menu (the tree dots). The iPlay Search panel is displayed as an expanded menu below the gamepad icon and offers a selection of links to games at better.cantstopplaying.com. The same functionality was presented with the GoPlay Search extension from bettersearchtools.com a week before iPlay Search was published on the Chrome Web Store. You may want to know that iPlay Search is an ad-supported program that changes your default search provider to games.eanswers.com. The portal games.eanswers.com is not an independent search service but a modified version of Searchalgo.com, which is related to browser hijackers. The installation process for iPlay Search involves the user granting the following privileges to the app:
- Read and change all your data on the websites you visit.
- Display notifications.
- Change your search settings to: games.eanswers.com.
Computer security experts classify the iPlay Search software by bettersearchtools.com as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that may use a virtual layer to display marketing offers from sponsors and may redirect users to recommended content. Moreover, iPlay Search is believed to be a clone of GoPlay Search that has two more versions named 'justPlay Search,' 'iPlay Now' and 'bestGames Now.' The names have been observed in publications on bettersearchtools.com and the Chrome Web Store. A closer look at their code showed there are slight modifications to the base extension engine, but they are the same essentially. Computer users that have installed the iPlay Search extension (a.k.a. 'justPlay Search,' 'iPlay Now' and 'bestGames Now') have reported seeing notifications in the top right corner that include invitations to install third-party software, explore offers on online stores and weather forecast for their location. The games on better.cantstopplaying.com may catch the interest of many users, but the advertisements may dissuade users from keeping the iPlay Search extension attached to their browser.
