Pahd Ransomware

The Pahd Ransomware is yet another ransomware threat spawned from the infamous and rather prolific STOP/Djvu malware family. Despite lacking any meaningful improvements over the base variants of the STOP/Djvu Ransomware family, the Pahd Ransomware is still a potent threat that can lock completely any computer it manages to infect. Users will be unable to access most of their personal or work-related files. The data encrypted by the threat will be held hostage by the cybercriminals who will then extort their victims for money.

Whenever the Pahd Ransomware encrypts a file, it will append '.pahd' as a new extension to that file's original name. Upon finishing the file encryption routine, the threat will drop its ransom note containing instructions for the victims. The ransom-bearing file is named '_readme.txt.' 

According to the note, the cybercriminals behind Pahd Ransomware want to receive the sum of $980 if they are to help their victims. The hackers also promise to lower the price by 50% to $490, if the affected users establish contact within the first 72 hours of the ransomware infection. Two email addresses are provided for communication - 'helpteam@mail.ch' and 'helpmanager@airmail.cc.' As part of their message, users are allowed to attach a single locked file that will allegedly be decrypted for free.
