Ourwowspot.com is an untrustworthy website that aims to take advantage of its visitors. In essence, the behavior of the page is identical to that of countless other websites trying to exploit the legitimate push notifications browser feature for monetary gains. When users land on sites such as Ourwowspot.com, typically as a result of forced redirects or PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) present on their devices, they would be presented with misleading lure messages.
One of the commonly utilized fake scenarios sees the dubious page pretending to conduct a CAPTCHA check. Users are left with the impression that they must press the displayed 'Allow' button as a way to prove that they are not robots. Ourwowspot.com uses a similar tactic. Users will see a loading bar accompanied by a message similar to:
'Click the Allow button to subscribe to the push notifications and continue watching'
Keep in mind that this could be just one of the scenarios used by the site and what users see may be based on their IP address, geolocation or other factors.
If successful, Ourwowspot.com will receive important browser permissions that will allow it to start delivering unwanted advertisements to the user's device. The advertisements are likely to promote similarly dubious destinations - misleading pages, fake giveaways, technical support tactics, phishing schemes, etc. Users also may see advertisements for seemingly legitimate applications that when installed turn out to be intrusive adware, browser hijackers or other PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs).
