OS(es) Affected: Windows is an untrustworthy page that relies on various deceptive schemes to take advantage of its visitors. In most cases, users will be shown manipulative or clickbait messages, while the site hides its true intentions of attempting to exploit the legitimate push notifications browser feature. Most likely, the exact scam that users will encounter on, is determined based on their IP address and geolocation.

Cybersecurity experts have been able two confirm two of the scenarios run by the dubious site. First, users may see a video window with a message claiming that to access the content, they must press the 'Allow' button. The page also may pretend to be doing a check for bots. Alternatively, may claim to provide breaking news and updates about sporting events from all across the world. Again, if the users follow the displayed instructions, they would be subscribed to the site's push notifications.

Hoax pages such as abuse the browser permissions associated with this feature as a way to run an unwanted advertising campaign. Users are likely to start receiving intrusive and questionable advertisements that could lead to additional unsafe destinations or promote intrusive PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) with adware, browser hijacker and even possess data-harvesting capabilities.
