Oksearch.org

The oksearch.org address is associated with a questionable search engine. Users rarely visit such engines on their own. It is far more likely that they are taken there as a result of having a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) installed on their computers. The oksearch.org engine is no different - infosec researchers have determined that redirects to the page are caused by fake browser extensions. However, most of the affected users have been using the Edge browser, and Chrome users also began to experience the same issues.

The extensions promoting the oksearch.org engine are spreading via fake versions of popular software applications. The browser hijacker applications pose as NordVPN, Adguard VPN, TunnelBear VPN, The Great Suspender, Floating Player - Picture-in-Picture Mode and Greasemonkey. It is extremely likely that even more fake apps could be in circulation, though. As for Google and Microsoft, they have been cleaning up their official Web stores from corrupted extensions associated with the oksearch.org address. Users who have been subjected to redirects to the oksearch.org but have no recollection of ever installing one of the aforementioned applications are advised to turn off all active extensions or add-ons and then contact either Microsoft or Google, depending on their specific browser.

It is strongly recommended not to engage with any of the pages opened by dubious search engines. They could be promoting various PUPs, running online tactics, or might be entirely threatening and spreading real malware threats.
