Ofww Ransomware

The Ofww Ransomware is a variant belonging to the STOP/Djvu malware family. As is to be expected, the threat exhibits the typical behavior associated with this threatening family and lacks any meaningful improvements. Of course, the Ofww Ransomware doesn't need to be modified to be an effective malware tool used in attack operations. When deployed and activated on the targeted systems, the threat will go after the victim's data and lock it using a strong cryptographic algorithm.

The files encrypted by the malware will have '.ofww' attached to their original names as a new extension. The threat also will leave a text file named '_readme.txt' on the infected systems. The file carries a ransom note with instructions for affected victims.

In general, the demands left by the Ofww Ransomware are identical to the ones observed in other STOP/Djvu threats. The operators of the malware state that they will be willing to send a decryption tool and the necessary decryption keys to victims who pay a $980 ransom. However, according to the note, users who contact the hackers within the first 72 hours will have to pay only half of that amount. The only way to reach the attackers is via the two email addresses provided in the ransom note - 'support@bestyourmail.ch' and 'datarestorehelp@airmail.cc.'
