Nusm Ransomware

Infosec researchers have caught a new variant belonging to the infamous STOP/Djvu Ransomware family. Called Nusm Ransomware, the new threat doesn't show any meaningful improvements over the typical variant of the STOP Djvu Ransomware family but that in no way diminishes its destructive capabilities. Any compromised machine will be affected significantly with nearly all stored files being encrypted with a strong cryptographic algorithm. The Nusm Ransomware will then extort its victims for money. 

Whenever the Nusm Ransomware locks a file, it appends '.nusm' to that file's original name as a new extension. Afterward, the threat will proceed to deliver its ransom note. The instructions from the hackers will be contained inside text files named '_readme.txt.' 

The ransom note states that the price of the ransom demanded by the cybercriminals is $980. If victims initiate communication within 72 hours after the Nusm Ransomware infection, the demanded amount is supposed to be slashed in half to $490. The hackers also offer to decrypt a single file for free. Two email addresses are provided in the ransom note - the main one is 'helpteam@mail.ch' while the reserver address is 'helpmanager@airmail.cc.'
