Nuhtab

Nuhtab is a browser extension that promises to provide its users with enhanced desktop customization options. Unfortunately, this appears to not be the main focus of the application. Instead, its functionality is that of a browser hijacker predominantly. As a result, once deployed to the user's browser, Nuhtab will proceed to take control over several important settings. These include the homepage, new tab page and the default search engine. 

The consequences of Nuhtab's actions will become visible almost instantly. When users open the affected browser, their homepage will be substituted with the address promoted by the application - nuhtab.com. The same will happen when a new tab is launched or if a search is triggered via the browser's URL tab. The promoted address is a fake engine that shows results generated by Yahoo. Users should keep in mind that such questionable search engines also may start redirect chains going through several dubious addresses. In the end, the shown results could be of low quality and may include numerous sponsored advertisements and links. 

At the same time, while Nuhtab is present on the system, it also will attempt to spy on the user's browsing activities. Adware, browser hijackers, and other apps classified as PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) are often equipped with data-tracking capabilities. They may collect the entire browsing history, search history and every clicked URL. Various device details also may be packed and transmitted to the PUP's operators.
