Notificationstech.com is an untrustworthy website that relies on clickbait and misleading tactics heavily, to run a popular browser-based tactic. Like all other pages of this type, its main goal is to get visitors to subscribe to its push notifications without realizing it. Another common characteristic found in these hoax sites is that they may cause unwanted redirects to other questionable pages.
When users land on Notificationstech.com, they may be presented with an audio file that unfortunately appears to be experiencing some playback issues. This impression may be further reinforced through various images or messages. In addition, the site will state that by clicking the shown 'Allow' button, users will be able to download an unspecified file. One version of such a message that has been observed by infosec experts is 'Press Allow to start downloading.'
Once users have enabled Notificationstech.com's push notification unknowingly, they will soon start noticing a marked increase in the advertisements encountered while browsing. The annoying advertisements could employ similar social-engineering tactics to lure users into interacting with them. This method is often utilized to promote additional hoax websites, platforms spreading PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs), or even compromised sites deploying harmful threats.
