Notification-news.com is another dubious website that tries to take advantage of its visitors. More specifically, the page runs a popular browser-based tactic that attempts to lure users into unknowingly subscribing to its push notification services. Websites of this type hide their true intentions behind fake scenarios that mask the actual functionality of the displayed 'Allow' button.
One of the misleading tactics often seen on hoax websites is pretending as if visitors have to pass a CAPTCHA check. Notification-news.com has also been observed to utilize this scenario. The page may display an image containing a robot next to a message similar to:
'If you are not a robot, click Allow'
After pressing the button, users will not be brought to any additional content. Instead, they will now be subjected to an influx of unwanted advertisements generated by Notification-news.com. The advertisements could promote similar hoax destinations, including fake giveaways and phishing schemes. Users should be careful with any offers to download or install seemingly useful applications. There is a high chance that once established on the system, the advertised products will turn out to be intrusive PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) equipped with adware, browser hijacker and data-collection functions.
