Nooa Ransomware

Nooa is another ransomware variant belonging to the infamous STOP/Djvu Ransomware family. Despite the numerous other STOP/Djvu variants already unleashed in the wild, the Nooa Ransomware is still destructive enough to cause massive damage to the infected computer systems. The threat goes after a large array of file types and encrypts them with an uncrackable algorithm. Impacted users will discover that they no longer can access the majority of their personal or business-related data.

The locked files will have '.nooa' appended to their original names. After the encryption process has been completed, the threat will create a ransom note in the form of a text file named '_readme.txt.'

The Ransom Note Details

The message left by the threat is largely consistent with the notes observed in the rest of the variants from the family. The hackers state that they want to receive the sum of $980 if they are to help their victims by sending them the necessary decryption key and tool. The offer to reduce the ransom by half to $490 is also here. The only requirement for the price cut is for the victims to have initiated communication within the first 72 hours following the ransomware attack. Users can do this by sending a message to the two email addresses found in the note - 'manager@mailtemp.ch' and 'managerhelper@airmail.cc.' In addition, as part of the message, victims can send a single encrypted file to the hackers. The file is supposed to then be unlocked for free and returned.
