The MySpace Tab is a browser hijacker that is being spread via dubious and deceptive websites. The application is capable of taking over several essential browser settings to promote a sponsored address and divert traffic towards it. More specifically, the MySpace Tab browser hijacker will cause unwanted redirects to the fake search engine at search.spaceytab.com

Once it has been allowed on the system, the intrusive application will activate its intrusive functionality and assume control over the user's browsers. The default addresses set for the browser's homepage, new tab page, and the search engine will now be substituted with the address provided by the browser hijacker. In some cases, browser hijackers and other PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) also are capable of establishing persistence mechanisms on the user's device ensuring that they would not be easily removed and that their changes will not be reverted.

The search.spaceytab.com address cannot deliver search results on its own. The search queries of the users will instead be redirected to the legitimate Google engine. It is important to remember that some fake engines display different behavior based on specific parameters, such as the IP address and geolocation of the particular device. This means that some users could instead be shown results derived from dubious search engines. These results could be of low quality, may not match the desired search terms, and include numerous sponsored links or advertisements.
