MyHypeNews.com is one of the countless, deceptive websites trying to take advantage of their visitors. These sites rely heavily on misleading and clickbait messages to mask their real intentions and create false impressions. Infosec researchers warn that rogue websites often scan incoming IP addresses to determine each visitor's geolocation. Afterward, they will use the acquired information to adjust the fake scenarios or the tactics they show.
MyHypeNews.com has been confirmed to exploit the legitimate push notifications browser feature. The site may show messages similar to:
'Click the 'Allow' button to subscribe to the push notifications and continue watching'
'By clicking 'Allow' button, you consent to receive notifications!'
'The notifications provide news and advertising materials!'
The implication is clear - if users want to access the supposed video content, they must subscribe to the site's notifications. As a result, MyHypeNews.com will receive several, important browser notifications that will allow it to arbitrarily deliver advertising materials to users' devices.
The problem with the advertisements generated by such dubious sources is that they could be used as a way to promote questionable or even unsafe destinations or software products. Users risk being shown advertisements for phishing tactics, fake giveaways, shady adult pages, etc. They also may see advertisements for adware, browser hijackers, and PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) presented as genuinely convenient applications.
