MovieSearchHome presents itself as a useful application, However, users shouldn't be fooled - the main purpose of this program is to act as a browser hijacker to generate artificial traffic towards a fake search engine. MovieSearchHome is capable of taking over the homepage, new page tab, and the default search engine of the user's Web browser. Afterward, whenever a search is started in the URL bar, a new tab is opened, or the browser is launched, it would open the promoted address.

In this case, users will be taken to moviesearchhome.com, which is indeed a fake engine incapable of delivering results on its own. However, it can redirect the user's search queries and show results generated by the legitimate search.yahoo.com engine. Alternatively, users could be taken to searchlee.com, which is a dubious search engine that displays questionable results often filled with shady sponsored advertisements.

MovieSearchHome also may be programmed to collect information about the user's browsing habits. It may steal various data such as the search history, all visited websites, IP address, geolocation and more. The gathered data can then be exploited by the app's operators in numerous ways.
